Lucian (125­190) was a Syrian-born satirist and literary critic who is 
most famous for his dialogues. They include Symposium , Charon , and 
Halieus . His satire often mocked philosophers who acted contrary to 
their teachings. His literary criticism is at its finest when he expounds on 
how history should be written.
